How it works

How does Burn work?

Burn gives you a daily screen time allowance for the apps you choose. Your daily baseline is configurable from 10 to 480 minutes. As you use those apps, your time ticks down. When it hits zero, those apps get blocked. Complete tasks to earn logs, then drag them into your flame to restore screen time.

What are logs and how do I use them?

Logs are earned by completing tasks. Drag your collected logs into the flame to convert them into screen time. By default each log restores 10 minutes, but you can change how much each log is worth in Settings (anywhere from 1 to 60 minutes).

When does my screen time reset?

Your screen time balance resets daily at midnight. Unused time does not carry over to the next day.

Settings & customization

How do I select which apps to manage?

Use the app picker during onboarding or in Settings to choose the apps you want managed. You can update your selection at any time — just tap the app list in Settings.

How do I change my daily screen time or minutes per log?

Open Settings from the gear icon on the main screen. From there you can adjust your daily screen time baseline (10–480 minutes), how many logs each task earns (1–6), and how many minutes each log is worth (1–60 minutes).

How do I customize my flame?

Burn comes with 13 flame color palettes including Orange (the default), Red, Pink, Rose, Purple, Lavender, Blue, Cyan, Green, Lime, Gold, White, and Black. The default Orange color is free; the rest unlock with Burn+. Pick your favorite in Settings — it changes the flame, the accent color throughout the app, and even the app icon on your home screen.

Features

How do recurring tasks work?

When creating a task, you can set it to repeat on a schedule: Daily, Weekdays (Mon–Fri), or Custom (pick specific days of the week). Recurring tasks automatically respawn each day they're scheduled, so you always have fresh tasks to earn logs from.

What do the widgets show?

Burn has home screen and lock screen widgets. The home screen widgets include a small flame status widget showing your remaining time, and a medium or large task widget where you can check off today's tasks right from your home screen. Lock screen widgets show your fuel level as a circular gauge, a progress bar, or an inline readout.

Why does Burn look different at night?

Between 10 PM and 5 AM, Burn switches to night mode. Your flame gets a sleepy face with little ZZZ particles floating around. It's a cozy reminder to wind down for the night.

Burn+ (In-App Purchase)

What is Burn+?

Burn+ is a one-time purchase — there are no subscriptions or recurring charges. It unlocks additional flame colors, all widgets, matching app icons, and low fuel warning notifications.

How do I restore my purchase?

Go to Settings, scroll to the Burn+ section, and tap "Restore Purchases." This will re-activate Burn+ if you've previously purchased it, including on other devices signed into the same Apple ID.

My purchase isn't showing up.

Make sure you're signed into the same Apple ID used for the original purchase, then try restoring again. If the issue persists, contact Apple Support for purchase-related billing questions.

Troubleshooting

Why does Burn need Screen Time permission?

Burn uses Apple's FamilyControls API to monitor app usage and manage blocking. This permission is required for the app to function. Your data stays entirely on your device.

My apps aren't unblocking after feeding logs.

Make sure you've dragged logs into the flame and your screen time balance is above zero. If the issue persists, try restarting the app or re-granting Screen Time permission in Settings.

Is my data private?

Yes. All data is stored locally on your device. We collect nothing. See our Privacy Policy.
